Clearly I can’t know exactly what time of year you’re reading this article at. However, as I write it it’s almost summer time and the excitement of the New Year’s resolution is starting to wear off. Most home business owners suffer from a little bit of a lull during the middle of the year as they seem to forget the goals and dreams that are discussed at the beginning of each new year.

Many legitimate home based business owners don’t start thinking about the Christmas Season until at least Halloween when all the stores begin putting up seasonal decorations. Around that time we start thinking about going on trips and buying gifts for everyone. It’s also a time when a home based business owner looks back at the wasted summer months and wishes they had moved a little faster. Successful home based business owners know that the momentum generated in the summer can carry them right through the Christmas season.

Well what if I told you that you could have a completely different business by Christmas time this year? That’s right, it only takes a couple of months to turn your business from “ho hum” to “oh wow!” and this article will give you the steps you need to take to build a better paycheck by the Christmas holiday season!

The first thing you’ll want to do is write down your goals for the end of this year. I’m a firm believer that if you don’t know exactly what you need to accomplish you won’t accomplish anything. So sit down right now and figure out your goals, be as specific as possible and put them in writing (don’t just keep them in your head!). At the top of this list write: “My Goals Before Next Christmas!”.

Make sure that you’re realistic. If it’s July and you’re making $500 a month in your home based business then a realistic goal would be to make $2000 a month by Christmas not $20,000 a month. You want your goals to be strong enough to motivate you but realistic enough that you can meet them.

Next you’ll want to map out a plan of attack. It’s one thing to know what you want to do in the next few months and it’s another to know how you plan to get there. If you were going on a trip you wouldn’t just say “I want to go to the grand Canyon” you would get out a map and find the best route from where you are and write down the directions. It’s no different with your business. If you don’t know what the map looks like how can you possibly expect to get there.

Of course you could just get in your car and go and MAYBE you’d get to the Grand Canyon by accident. However, it’s going to take a whole lot longer and there is a chance you may never find it.

You have to know your directions if you want to get anywhere in life so make sure you don’t skip that step!

Do I really have the time to devote to being my own boss?

Will I be a loyal employee to myself?
