If you’re reading this, you found it online and most likely are seeking assistance in growing your online presence or an online business. Any successful online business owner should have and maintain at least one blog.

Blogging has become an integral part of any online business and updating the blog or blogs should become routine. Having a business blog can be one of the best things you can do for your successful online business as it helps attract people to you and gain more prospects for your business.

Blogging and article marketing should be done simultaneously and can significant increase your online marketing efforts.

Blogging also allows you to stay in touch and build a relationship with people already on your team that may be scattered around the country or the globe. If you desire an effective and popular blog you don’t need much.

For example this author, Roger Moody has a successful online home based business from a home office in Indianapolis, Indiana. We may operate a successful online business from Indianapolis but our home based business income is spread nicely across the country. The real trick to building an effective blog doesn’t lay in the domain name, or the layout (although obviously you don’t want an ugly blog) but in the content aka the posts themselves.

So how do you write more effective blog posts that will not only captivate your current readers and keep them coming back but help you gain a bigger and bigger audience and at the same time raise your blog in the search engines?

Her are a few simple tips to help you write better content for your blog.

1. Keywords

This can not be said enough. If you want to build a successful home based business, popular and effective blog you can’t do it without the use of keywords. Take some time and do your keyword research because it will pay off big time if you do it right! Another good tip is to use keywords in the categories for your blog as well! Wherever you can fit in a keyword do it!

2. Be Original

Nobody is going to come back an visit a boring blog. Make sure your content is original and exciting. The most effective blogs I’ve found will have a mix of helpful content and personal stories. You want your readers to know and trust you as a business person as well as care about you as an individual.

3. Use Videos and Pictures when applicable

I can not stress enough how much adding videos and pictures will add to your blog. Breaking up your text with pictures will make people want to read more and more and the more personal the pics can be the better. So if you’re talking about your trip to Hawaii with the family don’t just use a stock photo of Hawaii use one of you and your family! Another tip is to make sure and keyword optimize the titles of your pictures before you post them as well!

Those are just a few simple tips that will help your blog become more popular. Make sure you work on your blog at least a couple times a week and follow these tips and you’ll be good to go!

Home Based Business Success Tip: You have to invest!

If you’re reading this I assume you are researching home based businesses or you may already operate a home based business. If you REALLY want success in a home based business you’re going to have to invest time and money into it.

I’m not sure where the rumors started that success in the home business industry comes easily with time and that a home based business should be easy. Maybe it’s because 4 solid years in a good home based business can set you up for life and that’s a lot better than working a job for 40+ years only to be left with very little in the end.

So what do I mean when I say investment? Well most people probably think of money but there is a lot more to be gained by investing your time and energy as well as a little money.

Let’s first start with investing some good old fashioned hard work and energy into your home based business because that is one of the big ones. You can’t build a business working only 2 or 3 hours a week… well you can but it’ll probably take you 20 years to build it. If you want to build a life changing home based business you’re going to need to invest at least 10 hours a week and that is the bare minimum.

Obviously the more time you invest the faster your business will grow so do what is best for your business but just know that you’re going to have to work at it. Building any kind of business is not easy, there are going to be lots of bumps in the road so get ready. Believe me though…. It is so worth it! If you don’t work hard at your business you won’t have success, period!

The next thing you’ll have to invest is time. There is no such thing as overnight success at least not success that will last. We have all become pretty impatient these days we want our success and we want it now! You can’t build a business in 6 months so unless you have at least a couple of years of solid effort to put into your business you might as well not even get started because you will be disappointed.

Finally, let’s talk about investing money in your business. Obviously you will have to pay some sort of upfront cost and probably a monthly fee to operate your business that is a given. Every business on earth costs money to start and a home based business is no different.

However you will also have to invest in other things if you want to be truly successful. There is a lot of great training out there on the internet you just have to go find it. Some of it is free and some isn’t. Don’t waste your money on every little thing you come across but spending some money on training materials is almost always a good investment.

You’re also going to have to invest some money into different marketing methods. Luckily for most home business owners there are many methods of marketing on the internet that are absolutely free. However, don’t be afraid to invest a little to get a lot! All businesses spend a little bit of money on marketing and your home based business should be no different.

Invest a little money and a lot of time and energy into your home based business and you will find success working from home. Remember the rewards match the investment!

Who Can Succeed in Network Marketing

Far too often I hear “anyone” can have success in network marketing. Can everyone really succeed working from home? In this article I will attempt to answer that burning question.

As someone that has been around the network marketing industry for many years I’ve personally experienced and witnessed a lot of success stories. I’ve seen ordinary looking people who you would never guess were super successful turn out huge incomes all with the help of a network marketing mentor. However, I have also seen many people fail and fail miserably. So what is the difference? Isn’t anyone supposed to be able to succeed working a network marketing business from home? Well here is what I’ve noticed.

All of those that succeed have a clear vision of where they’re going. Every company starts out small and it takes a person with true vision to be able to look at a tiny start up company and see where it’s headed. Even if they are starting out in a well established network marketing company it takes vision to see that they can have success even massive success.

Those that fail are fault finders. You know the type. They always have ways their network marketing company can “improve” on something whether it be the products or the compensation plan or marketing. What I have found is the people who are constantly finding things wrong with everything are never successful regardless of how many others around them are making a living in network marketing. Successful people might see a thing or two that could be improved on but they don’t let it hang them up.

Successful people listen to what other successful people have to say. It’s really like a game of follow the leader. In network marketing if you watch what other people are doing to make money and follow it you too will have success. Network marketing really is much easier than we tend to make it.

People who fail want to re-invent the wheel. I’ve seen lots and lots of people come into a company and brag about how they are going to change the game and create a whole new system for success. 99 times out of 100 those people fail. Network marketing is a proven business model so, Why not just stick with what you know works?

Successful people don’t give up. Success with anything is going to take some time. There is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme, at least not a legal one.

People who fail try for a bit and then give up. Trying a business for a month and then quitting means you didn’t really try at all. There isn’t a business alive that became successful in such a short amount of time. Unless you are willing to invest 2 – 4 years of your life in a business don’t bother getting started. Of course you will see some small successes along the way but the big money comes to those who put in consistent effort for at least a few years.

So what’s the verdict? Is it true that anyone can be successful in a network marketing business? I say no, because not everyone is willing to do what it takes to see true success. But if you are willing to work hard and with consistency your network marketing success is guaranteed!

Home Based Business Tips: Should you Answer Your Calls or Send them to Voicemail

I begin this article assuming you have found a good home based business and have a proven system in place that gets your phone ringing inbound and not having to use leads.

There are different philosophies on to what to do with your prospects when they call you. Some will tell you that it’s best to answer your calls live and let them talk to a real person and many others believe sending them to an automated voicemail is best. It’s hard to know which is really better. In this article I will be going over the differences as well as the pro’s and con’s of each method so that you can discover what is best for you and your current situation.

Let’s start with answering your calls live:

First off it’s just more personal. Fewer and fewer businesses are answering their calls live these days and it’s something that people like it makes them feel like they are important and it just makes them feel good. Another pro to answering your calls live is that you can answer their questions right away. Sometimes just answering one or two questions can help them decide if they’re in or out and taking the calls live allows you to get the answers right away. The final pro to answering your calls live is that it gives you the upper hand in the conversation.

If you let them leave a voicemail you’ll have to call them back and whoever is answering the phone is automatically in a better position. By answering your calls live you will probably talk to nicer people because after all. They called you!

Now the con’s of answering your calls live:

Often when you are new to the business you might be a little nervous talking to someone about it. That is completely normal. You never get a second chance to make a first impression and many times if you answer the call live and don’t know what to say you may not represent your company in the best way. Another con is that if you answer it live you might not be able to fully focus even if you know what to say. You may be driving or doing something with your kids or cooking or whatever and so you might not give the best impression because of that. Calling them back later allows you to fit it into your schedule and get in the right frame of mind before calling someone you’d like to be in your business.

Here are the pro’s for sending your calls to voicemail:

When you send them to voicemail you can give them a little bit of information without you actually having to do it live. This also allows you to call your prospects back at a time that is convenient for you. Also when you call them back you can be more prepared with a script or whatever you need to feel comfortable right in front of you.

The con’s of sending them to voicemail:

People might be put off that you are sending them to a machine instead of speaking to them live. Another reason is that they may be calling multiple people and if you don’t answer but someone else does they might end up signing up with the other person.

If you’ve been involved in network marketing for any significant period of time chances are you’ve spent money on MLM leads. With all the tools available to a home business owner today there is absolutely no reason to spend money on MLM leads ever again! It’s just simply a waste of money here is why…

If you could have 1000 MLM leads who might be interested in your business or 5 prospects who called you about your MLM opportunity which would be more valuable to you? If you said the 1000 prospects you’d be dead wrong.

If you want true success in your MLM / home based business, you do not want joiners you want partners. The people that are “ready to buy” are always better than the ones who are “just looking”. If they really knew what they were doing, they would not need to buy activity.

When you market properly on the internet you are able to find more people from all over who want what you have without actually having to talk to any of them. They find you, they get the information and then they call you when they are ready (or very close) to getting started!

People who know how to use the power of the internet will never go back to traditional forms of marketing…it’s just not worth it.

Can a Home Based Business Replace Your Current Career?

When most people begin researching a home based business they will often see different things. In this author’s opinion, most see that it’s a way to make a few extra bucks and help make ends meet, for some it’s a way to make money from home while their spouse brings home the big paycheck from work and finally for lastly others see it as a life changing opportunity. Worked properly, a home based business is thing that allows you to make the kind of money you’ve always dreamed of from home. So can a home based business actually become a full time career?

The answer is YES! However the only way you’re truly going to make that life changing kind of money is if you stop treating it like a hobby and get after it!

Most people believe that that kind of success just can’t happen for them. They might say, “well they got started in the beginning when all the real money is made.” I’m here to tell you the timing has never been better to lock arms with a good sponsor and begin your future today.

Personally, I love this industry. As I write this I’m head bobbing to some of my favorite tunes cranking from my XM radio. I mean seriously, who gets to earn a living and have this much fun? My business grew yesterday while I was out enjoying the nice weather by the grill. It can’t get much better than that.

Understand this, when you join a home based business you have something very special in your hands. You have a fully functional business that you can make whatever you want. The choice really is yours. Do you want a $12,000 a year online business or do you want a $100,000+ a year RESIDUAL online business?

If you want to make 6 figures residually, you have found the right industry. There is no other type of business out there that allows average people to make such huge residual incomes.

So how do you turn your online business from a part time hobby to a full time money making machine? For starters you’re going to have to change the way you look at your business. If you see your online business as a small-time, little thing then that’s exactly all it will ever be. You have to believe that you are the CEO building an empire. When you talk to people, when you present the business in any way you have to present it like the CEO of a fortune 500 company would present it.

Treat your home based business with the respect it deserves and you’ll be on the right track to making your home based business a full time career.

The final piece to success in your home based business is goal setting. If you’re not setting goals for your business you aren’t treating it like a business. All big companies have a plan for where they will be going at all times. Sit down at your computer or with a piece of paper and chart out your goals and what it is going to take to get there. Also don’t leave out dates. Sure you want to make $100,000 but when? If you don’t write out your goals and when exactly you’re going to accomplish then you are doing your business a disservice.

Your home based business can be as big or as small as you make it. Make sure you’re doing everything you can to get the most out of your home based business. Don’t just make it a hobby make it your career for life & pass on the legacy!

When to be serious about your online business and when to just laugh

There are going to be times in your online business when you need to be very focused and serious…. It is a real online business after all! However, when working your business and dealing with different types of people there are times when you gotta just laugh! Here are a few examples:

Serious – Finding time to work your business

When it comes to finding time to work your online business every week you have to get serious. The great thing about a home based business is you can work it whenever you want, the bad thing about a home based business is you can work it whenever you want!

If you don’t set out specific times to work your business online you are destined to fail. Just because you can work your business around your family’s schedule doesn’t mean you won’t have to make some sacrifices along the way.

Try making a weekly schedule and sticking with it. Treat the time you spend working your online business like the time you would spend at a “real” job. Also, let friends and family know when you’re going to be working so they don’t disturb you as much.

Laugh – Talking to rude people on the phone

If you’ve ever called people on the phone about your business chances are you’ve come across some really rude people. If you haven’t come across rude people you’re not working hard enough!

Dealing with rude people over the phone is a part of just about any home business. You have to learn to laugh it off. You are calling these people to offer them something that they need! You should never, ever feel bad about that. After all what could they possibly have to do that’s more important than taking a phone call that could change their life forever?

When people are rude to your over the phone just laugh it off and move on. Don’t let it upset you or stop you from making progress. Just move on to the next.

Serious – Getting your mind right

People in home based businesses (online or offline) are always talking about getting your mind right, but it’s for good reason. If your mind isn’t in the game you’re never going to have the type of success you could have. Make sure your mind is ready to really win and you’ll find success much faster!

Laugh – When your friends and family don’t believe you

I know that sometimes nothing could sting more than having a friend or family member tell you that you’re going to fail. It’s rough, but you have to just laugh it off!

The thing you have to remember is most people are conditioned to understand having a regular 9-5 job and anything that’s a little different than that can freak people out. Don’t let it bother you when the people closest to you laugh. Many, many MLM success stories started with their family members laughing at them. Guess what… they aren’t laughing now!

Serious – Get some “Skin in the Game”!

If you want to get really serious about making money from home you’re going to have to invest in tools for success at some point. That can come in the form of leads, or marketing tools it can also simply be ebooks or other types of information. If you want a business that’s going to pay you big money you’re going to have to invest a little.

Don’t waste your money on anything and everything, but find products that come with great testimonials and that you feel can really help your business. Don’t be afraid to spend a little money to make a lot!

Laugh – “Isn’t that a pyramid scheme?”

If I’ve heard this once I’ve heard it a thousand times. People have been calling legitimate multi level marketing companies “pyramid schemes” for the longest time and it’s never going to change.

Don’t let it bother you and laugh it off. There are many, many home based businesses out there that are moral, ethical and legal if people don’t know that by now that’s their problem not yours and certainly not your company’s fault.

Learn when to get serious about your business and when to just laugh it all off and you’ll be a much happier and more motivated home business owner. Remember not to let anyone steal your dream from you, you CAN have success working from home!

Research a Real Home Based Business

When you’ve made the decision to work from home by starting a home based business you have made a huge stride in the right direction and this author congratulates you for that decision. However, there are a lot of other choices you’re going to have to make if you really want to make good money from home.

First of all you’ll want to choose a company to join and then you’ll want to find an upline sponsor that you’re comfortable with. Your research of the home based business includes finding a good upline mentor. Sometimes they may be the first person from that company to contact you and other times you’ll have to “Shop” for an upline.

While researching your home based business opportunity you’ll be faced with a decision that almost every home based business owner is faced with at one time or another. Should I join just one company or should I join several and up my chances for success.

During your research of a home based business, the idea of joining lots of different companies might seem like a smart investment but it never is. It’s not like buying multiple lottery tickets and hoping one is the winner because unlike the lottery all home based businesses require work and effort.

This author believes in multiple income streams from a diverse line of products. While researching your home based business you might run across companies that offer services in multiple industries. I do not recommend multiple companies. When you join more than one company you are splitting your focus and you are actually lowering your chances of ever really being successful in any company.

Most home based business owners already have a lot going on, family, friends, and another full or part time job… the list goes on. So the more you add to that list the more everything else will suffer.

Researching your home based business you will ultimately chose a company, stick with it. Give your chosen company all your focus and energy for a significant amount of time and you will see results, no doubt about it.

I have often run across people to promote the idea of joining multiple companies and will tell you that it’s the best way to go. In every instance those people really aren’t successful in any company. So why would you listen to them when you want to know how to be successful.

When you look at the top income earners in every single company I will promise you that not one of them is a part of any other home based business. That’s why they were able to be so successful, because they focused on one business and gave it everything they had.

Finally, the upfront cost of joining multiple companies can really hurt your bank account. While researching a home based business you should notice that any legitimate home based business costs hundreds of dollars to get started and it’s worth it because you’re going to be making all that money back. However, if you invest a lot of money and then make hardly any of it back you might be tempted to quit working from home all together.

When you join just one company your investment is much smaller and you are much more likely to succeed. It’s a no brainer really.

So do the best thing for your and yourself and do a lot of research on home based businesses. Join a home based business you can get excited about and stick with it. I promise you will see success!

Just a quick note to encourage everyone to turn OFF the news (my preference is Fair and Balanced Fox News) and crank up your favorite tunes!

To our buddy Glen Beck on the Fox News Network, keep up the good fight brother…but you depress me sometimes. To the rest of my Fox friends, thanks for all the good work you do but update me when we turn a corner and have some good news for a change.

I’ve been feeling stressed lately and not sure why…My life is awesome! It struck me this morning that we’re so surrounded by bad news of illness, floods, war, the economy. It’s no wonder I’m not enjoying the lifestyle we’ve created.

As of today I am a recovering Fox News Junkie. I feel like I need to say “Hi, my name is Roger Moody and I’m a Fox news addict.”

Don’t get me wrong Fox News is clearly the best in the business but I’m 40 years old and need to play a little air guitar and maybe a little dancing around the office…Sorry to all the folks at the Fox News Network but Roger Moody is logging off & trusting that if the sky does fall, one of my Facebook friends will update me.
